CHRISTIAN BOOK AWARD FINALIST NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY COSMOPOLITAN
Are your thoughts holding you captive? I’ll never be good enough. Other people have better lives than I do. God couldn’t really love me. Jennie Allen knows what it’s like to swirl in a spiral of destructive thoughts, but she also knows we don’t have to stay stuck in toxic thinking patterns.
As she discovered in her own life, God built a way for us to escape that downward spiral. Freedom comes when we refuse to be victims to our thoughts and realize we have already been equipped with power from God to fight and win the war for our minds.
In Get Out of Your Head, Jennie inspires and equips us to transform our emotions, our outlook, and even our circumstances by taking control of our thoughts. Our enemy is determined to get in our heads to make us feel helpless, overwhelmed, and incapable of making a difference for the kingdom of God. But when we submit our minds to Christ, the promises and goodness of God flood our lives in remarkable ways.
It starts in your head. And from there, the possibilities are endless.

Christian womenâs book on taking thoughts captive
Read this with my womenâs Bible study group and it was an excellent book for women of all different ages and backgrounds. I donât think Iâm an anxious person, but who doesnât fail daily at taking their thoughts captive? Even menial, insignificant thoughts. Any worry or concern in our lives can become a track that keeps on playing and causes us to spiral into unhealthy emotions, behaviors, relationships and lifestyles. This book challenges the reader with questions to analyze their thoughts and to be real with oneself, tools to take those thoughts captive, and a vision for a new, better, more peaceful life when thoughts are surrendered to Christ. She uses humor, relatable stories, and testimonies of real women to drive home the concepts in a feasible way. I highly recommend to all women, no matter how big or little the stresses in your life feel. There is a better way to live!Excited to start the Bible Study and conversation cards by the same title which goes through Philippians.Note: the Bible study does not coordinate with the book in a way that is read at the same time. The author does offer a free book club guide for the book itself, including links to her accompanying podcast, on her website.

Life Changing and easy to apply
I came across this this book on Amazon. I immediately knew I had to order it. I hff have struggled for years with the idea of taking every thought captive. I knew it was something I needed to do, but I didn’t know HOW to do it. This book breaks it down into baby steps that are practical and easy to implement. I underlined something on almost every page. This book spoke to me on so many levels. I so appreciate Jennie’s willingness to share her own struggles in this area. I read this book in one sitting. I definitely intend to reread it. One of my favorite sections was on asking for help. I can ask for help at work, no problem. But when it comes to asking for help on a personal level….not so much. I don’t want to inconvenience anyone. Even family or close friends. There are many examples, but here is a very recent one. A couple days ago, I slept funny and woke up with a very painful shoulder. I have some pain patches and Icy Hot creme. But the pain was by my shoulder blade and it was difficult to reach on my own. My aunt lives less than 5 minutes from me. She called me last night and told me to call her if I want her to apply some cream or something. She said she didn’t mind at all. So this morning I wake up and the pain in my shoulder started to come back. She called me again this morning. If she hadn’t, I would not have called her. I would rather be in severe pain than ask someone for help. This book gave me so much to think about and ponder. This book is life changing. If you struggle with toxic thought that drag you down, do yourself a favor and read this book. I have read several other books on this topic. None of them helped me as much as this one. Not only does it help you identify the problem, it also provides a solution. If I could, I would give this book 10 stars.

I’ll start this review off by saying, if you’re not open to the possibility of God, or you’re not willing to hear it from that perspective, this is *not* the book for you!! And that’s okay. But, luckily for me, this book was exactly what I needed and came at the perfect time.Jennie Allen has a way of writing that will keep you hooked. I found myself taking breaks from work just so I could sit and read it. If I was feeling anxious, especially at outings, just reading a page would relax me. It shows you that those deep, dark thoughts are more normal than you think, and you can get rid of them. Jennie had been in a dark place for 18 months, the exact same place I went to these past months. Her insight helps you gain a new perspective on it and change your mindset.I’m sure this book isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve experienced anxiety and stress, it might just be for you. It helped me so much. Every morning for the past few months I’ve had morning sickness from anxiety, until only recently. This is because the first thing I do every morning is open my Jennie Allen book (i’m reading another one now!!), and straight away I feel the tension fade away.An amazing book. I finished it in about two days, meanwhile, there are books that have been on my floor mid-read since January.
