I started this book on my breaks at work and was mid chapter about 50% of the way through when I had to put it down to help a customer. I went home and read the rest in one sitting! Absolutely thrilling! I never know what Freida McFaddens characters are going to do next!Spoilers:I snickered when I saw that Rob got his own chapter. I thought âoh neat, a side character is going to give us a little needed information, but it canât be that significantâ boy was I wrong ðWOW.I really felt Rosalieâs pain throughout her chapters. I was so delighted that she decided to get back up and continue her dreams. I guess she just needed a wake up call. ð¬The love between Rosalie and Nick was so raw, pure and felt so real. Especially with what she was going through, putting a tear in the relationship. But he wasnât giving up.Greta was a great character! Couldnât believe her ending! Iâm also glad she visited Rosalie often.I really thought I skipped a page toward the end there. I thought the character was missing an event in the timeline, nope. That really got me.Thanks Frieda for another amazing book. And Iâm on to the next.

A Solid Thriller
I had read a few heavy and serious non-fiction books in a row and I needed a thriller I could lose myself in for a bit. Iâve read a few of Freida McFaddenâs books and enjoyed them so I figured Iâd give this a try. When I read the opening sentence (âWhile Iâm washing the blood off my hands in the kitchen sink, the doorbell rings.â) I knew Iâd picked the right book.The plot here is pretty far fetched but you have to accept that with these types of books. McFadden jumps from person to person so you get the perspective of Quinn, the wife who killed her husband in self defense, then Rosalie, the woman whose husband runs the motel where Quinn stays as she tries to flee the police, then Claudia, Quinnâs sister who is trying desperately (maybe too desperately) to find her sister before the police do. The motel where Quinn happens to hole up is known as the Murder Motel because someone had been killed there a few years ago. That adds to the suspense and mystery here. Iâll say no more so as not to ruin the plot for any future readers who may, like myself, just want a quick page turner to lose themselves in for a little bit.I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. McFaddenâs not the greatest writer ever but she does know how to spin a yarn.

3.5 starsThis book was recommended to me by my cousin as part of a reading challenge. Itâs my first time reading Freida McFadden.Right away, Iâm annoyed. I get it, itâs for the story. But I donât like books/movies like this. Where the woman was in an abusive marriage and NO ONE knew. Girl, why? Tell a family member or friend! Keep a detailed journal. She still worked, so even if you have to write every day at lunch and keep it in your desk!! Document everything!! We are not brand new. Abuse is a real thing!!And then the hotel. Thatâs a big nope all around!! All the warning signs are there, and she still kissed him?! So she really is just a brainless idiot?Now Claudia. The way she speaks to her husband makes me dislike her so much!!! Why is she so rude to a man who works for a living? She really is despicable. I think Rob is the only person in this book I like!! At least sheâs trying to find her sister.Uh-oh. I spoke too soon. I was absolutely NOT expecting that. But, it makes sense. Sheâs vile.I do like how we get so many POVs in this book. I enjoy seeing everyoneâs side of things!!Oh, the epilogue! That wasnât a plot twist for me, as I called that half way through the book. But nice to have it confirmed!!Overall, this was a decent enough book. But I spent so much time mad that I donât want to read anything like it!!

good thriller
I believe I read this book already but I donât remember this book at all and I pick it from my TBR list. Let me tell you I didnât see that coming at all. I thought that the main character Nick was a killer because of what his wife said and what she saw. Iâm glad that almost live a happy life after the event took place and Iâm glad her sister didnât get away with anything.

Iâm not a typical crazed McFadden fan. I have, however read several of her books. This one was definitely different than her otter books in that the story doesnât have a crazy twist at the end. Solid 4 stars.

Good, easy and fast read. Itâs a short book and as always, you donât expect the end. However, the author keeps portraying foreign characters as unable to use contractions when they speak, amongst other things, but whatever. It was worth the time.

Just starting my reading era and prefer simply written books, this was overly simple. Wasnât a fan of chapters jumping between characters after the main story. The ending/twist seemed a bit rushed, I actually rolled my eyes and thought that particular chapter was poorly written.
